In the beginning, 'Old Rope Salvage' was just a name, a description for our way of life on Albacore. Later, it became the name of our up-cycling business, and later still it evolved to encompass and describe our whole way of life. It has now come to symbolise our passion and our mission to build a sustainable way of life as artists and makers, creating, building, restoring & living off-grid.

Tim is The Inventor. He likes to take things apart and put them back together again in new ways. A painter, signwriter, builder of old cars, restorer of boats. Practical and inventive, his great skill is in finding magic and beauty where there is seemingly none, often at the bottom of a skip where he regularly discovers the objects he upcycles. His greatest passion in life however, is drinking tea.
Tim has recently set up a workshop in a Barn-on-a-Farm where he works on some of his up-cycling projects and where we are currently building our House Truck ... Visit The Workshop inside The Emporium to find out more about his fabulous inventions ...
Lisa is The Storyteller ... Artist, illustrator, writer, bookmaker, professional daydreamer and occasional mermaid, Lisa also creates our online and offline content, designs the website, and films and edits our videos. She is an excellent First Mate and has recently signed a declaration promising to learn How To Weld. She also makes a lovely cup of tea.

As semi-delusional but hopelessly optimistic artists with a dream to create a sustainable way of life as far from the 9-5 as possible, we want to be able to share some of our ideas, creations and adventures with you. Should be interesting ... at least for us ...

A NEW ADVENTURE HAS BEGUN!

We have The Workshop.  We have The Overalls.
We have The Fear.
We are now ready to begin the transformation of our
BIG MAN TRUCK into
*THE WORLD'S GREATEST ADVENTUREMOBILE ...
​(*This may be an exaggeration) ...
We have recently finished restoring the cab from rusty wreck to our signature colours of shiny brown, black and cream.
It took several months of searching, but in November 2020 we found an awesome new location for Old Rope Salvage where we have set up a workshop, dusted off the tools and are now busy making, up-cycling, inventing and creating again. More importantly, this is now the location for our BIG NEW PROJECT: A Tiny (Big!) Home-on-Wheels which we are creating from the remains of a 1975 Bedford Firetruck ...       Yes, we're at it again ... We just can't seem to stop ourselves from taking on ridiculous projects!
We still have The Ford Truck, and maybe just enough money left over to keep us in pasties and tea whilst we set about re-inventing our future ...
